When your home painting project is finished, you need to clean up the paint supplies and get the leftover paint ready for storage.
Cleaning tools used for oil paints:
Brush cleaning:
To clean the brush from oily paint, you should first dip the brush in an oily paint solvent (oil thinner, gasoline, or petroleum) and then squeeze the bristles of the brush to remove the remaining paint and solvent as much as possible. Repeat this until the color is completely removed from the pen. After that, you should wash the pen with clear solvent and then with soap and water and then rinse. After drying, it is better to store the pen in thick paper.
Cleaning the roller:
Remove the roller shell from its handle and place it completely in the solvent. When almost all the color is removed from the shell, wash the shell with dishwashing liquid and then rinse.
Wash the roller handle with solvent as well. Then hang the roller to dry.
Cleaning the equipment used for water-based paint:
Brush cleaning:
To clean the brush from the water-based paint, after finishing painting, you should first dip the brush in water and then squeeze the brush hairs to remove the remaining paint as much as possible. Repeat this until the color is completely removed from the pen. After that, you should wash the pen with soap and water and then rinse. After drying, it is better to store it in thick paper.
Cleaning the roller:
After finishing painting, immediately remove the roller shell from its handle and place it completely in water. When almost all the color is removed from the shell, wash the shell with dishwashing liquid and rinse it. Wash the roller handle with water as well. Then hang the roller to dry.
Maintenance of remaining colors:
Remaining colors from painting, which are not mixed with solvent, can be stored.
For this purpose, you should pour some water (for water-based paints) or some solvent (for oil-based paints) on the surface of the remaining paint in the container and do not mix it. Then close the lid of the container tightly and keep it in a cool place away from sunlight.
